Abstract

A welding wire, for welding alloy sheets having yield strengths in the range 110,000 to 150,000 p.s.i., has the following percentage composition:- CO - 0.12 PO - 0.013 SO - 0.01 Mn 1.116 - 2 Si 0.4 - 1 Ni 1.5 - 3 Mo 0.4 - 1 Cu 0.4 - 1 Zr 0 - 0.082 W 0 - 1 Ti 0 - 0.08 Fe the remainder. The wire may be used with a flux coating, with a magnetic flux shield or with a flux core and a gas shield. It may also be used in the inert gas shielding process, the submerged arc process or the electro-slag process. A flux of the following composition, suitable for submerged arc welding, is disclosed:- .SiO2.34% .CaO.17% .Al2O3.15% .MnO.7% .CaF2.14% .LiF.13%
