Abstract

The following coatings are used on welding electrodes (see Group XXII):- 1) 47 parts fluorspar, 20 parts limestone, 5 parts felspar, 5 parts rutile, 10-40 parts ferro-alloys with, if desired, additions of powdered metals such as nickel, copper or tungsten. 2) 20 parts high carbon ferro-manganese, 40 parts low carbon ferro-manganese, 10 parts ferro-molybdenum, 15 parts fluorspar, 15 parts limestone. 3) 12 parts fluorspar, 20 parts limestone, 10 parts felspar, 30 parts rutile, 10-40 parts ferro-alloys. The ferro alloys used may contain chromium, molybdenum, niobium, manganese and silicon. A core wire for an electrode contains 0.3-0.5% C, 2% Mn, 3% Mo, 0.5% Si, remainder Fe. Examples of weld deposits are:- 1) 18% Cr, 8% Ni, 1% Nb, remainder Fe. 2) 18% Cr, 8% Ni, 3% Mo, remainder Fe. 3) 18% Cr, 10% Ni, 3% Mo, 1% Nb, remainder Fe. 4) 1% C, 14% Mn, 3% Mo, 0.5% Si, remainder Fe. Specifications 584,299 and 795,672 also are referred to.
