Abstract
1,045,315. Non-linear resistors. VSESOJUZNY ELECTROTEKHNICHESKY INSTITUTE IM. LENINA. Sept. 11, 1964, No. 37364/64. Heading H1K. A non-linear resistor is made by mixing silicon carbide and a binder consisting of water glass and a filler and then roasting at 1100-1380‹ C. in an atmosphere preventing oxidation e.g. hydrogen. The mixture consists of 80-84% by weight silicon carbide and the residue binder, the water glass constituting 60-76% by weight of the binder. Suitable fillers are chalk and alumina. Diffusion of sodium ions from the water glass into the carbide grains is said to enhance the conductivity of the resulting resistor.
