Abstract
1269406 Semi-conductor resistors MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 23 June 1969 [24 June 1968] 31659/69 Headings F4W and W45D [Also in Division H5] A ceramic semi-conductor resistance element consists principally of zinc oxide with property modifying additives making up 0À002 to 30% of the element, including 0-30% zirconia, 0-8% silica and 0-0À03% of the oxide of at least one of the trivalent metals aluminium, gallium, indium and iron, the resistivity of the element being less than 10 ohm-cm at 25C and less than 1 ohm-cm at 925C., the resistivity remaining constant during prolonged heating at a given temperature. The element is made by sintering to form an elongate tube, which may be mounted in an elongate channel-shaped casing serving as an elongate reflector so as to form a space heater. Various examples of compositions and sintering methods are described.
