Abstract

1,045,214. Air heating and cooling apparatus. ALUMINIUM - UND METALLWARENFABRIK J. REIERT G.m.b.H. March 25, 1964, No. 12753/64. Heading F4S. Apparatus for heating or cooling air comprises parallel equidistant pipes 2 extending between inlet and outlet headers 1 and 3, and having front and back gilled plates 4 attached by welding to these pipes, the gills in each plate each being twisted out of the plane of the plates to project equidistantly from both sides of the panel, the width to thickness ratio of the crosssection of the gills being between 1: 4 to 1: 16. The gills in the air heater shown are turned out of the plane of the panel by between 30-60 degrees, air passing between the gills is heated in the shaft-like space within the heater and leaves as it flows upwardly through via holes provided in top plate 9. The top and bottom of the heater is reinforced by frame-like structures 8 and a hinged panel 7 is provided at the base to facilitate easy cleaning. There may be one or more rows of gills between neighbouring pipes 2 and the upper third of the side panels 6 may also be gilled.
