[Also in Division B5] A unitary ladle stopper for protecting the lower flanged end of a stopper rod comprises a body of relatively heat-conducting refractory material 4 wherein there is a downwardly depending well 6 lined with an integrally formed and permanently attached relatively heat-insulating refractory material 7 having a screw-thread 8 for engaging a stopper insert (not shown).
