The arrangement for controlling induction motors by varying the on/off periods of a semiconductor switch T R in the rotor circuit described in the parent Specification is modified by the replacement of the quenching circuit by a capacitor C L in series with the fixed resistor R. There is further described an arrangement (Fig. 4, not shown) for operating a plurality of motors with individual switches and resistors but a common capacitor; the switches are triggered in sequence so as to provide a uniform load on the capacitor.
