Abstract
967,506. Control of A.C. motors. L. KATZ. Oct. 16, 1961, No. 37019/61. Headings H2A and H2J. The stator windings 1 of an A.C. motor are energized from an inverter comprising two transistors I, II or other switching devices in push-pull, supplied from a D.C. source B. The transistors are triggered by feed back from a coil 5 coupled to the stator winding 1 but substantially unaffected by the rotor 3. The frequency of the inverter is determined by the parameters of the system, and is adjusted by a rheostat R1 which also affects the power supplied to the motor by varying the firing angle of the transistors. When the motor is specifically single phase (Fig. 3, not shown) a second set of stator windings are connected in parallel with the first through phase splitting capacitors. The arrangement may be applied to a fan motor, when the transistors and resistors are disposed on a casing cooled by the air flow. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 889,346.
