Abstract
919,433. Washing machines. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Oct. 27, 1961 [Nov. 25, 1960 (2)], No. 38523/61. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XXXV] A washing machine control circuit is driven by a timing circuit comprising a rectifier 192 in series with an opposed avalanche diode 172 in series with a coil 170, with a capacitor 174 in parallel with the diode and coil. When the capacitor reaches the breakdown voltage of the diode, the coil is periodically energized, latching round a pawl 150 which drives a contact 146 round contacts 152-162 which insert differently valued resistors 182-190 in the circuit to vary the period that contact 146 rests on each segmental contact. The circuits controlling the separate operations of the washing machine are operated by cam-switches (not shown) coupled to the pawl 150.
