Abstract

1410477 Automatic control of speed INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 1 Dec 1972 [3 Dec 1971] 55472/72 Heading G3R [Also in Division H2] A series motor M is connected to an A.C. supply through a triac T 1 which receives triggering pulses from trigger diode D3 when capacitor C2 has charged to a given level. The charging time of the capacitor is varied by a semi-conductor device T2 controlled by a voltage proportional to motor current and derived from resistor R2. In the arrangement shown the motor back e.m.f. sets the charging voltage across capacitor C2 and this is modified by the voltage proportional to current developed across R2 by causing the field effect transistor T2 to charge its conductivity. The control is arranged to operate only on one half cycle of the supply and to measure the load current during the other half cycle. This is achieved by the use of time constant circuit R1, C1.
