Abstract

1,044,080. Transistor amplitude modulating and gating circuits. TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. July 1, 1965 [July 15, 1964], No. 29086/64. Headings H3R and H3T. In a modulator circuit of the diode type, the diode is replaced by a transistor having a common connection between its base and another electrode so that the transistor acts as a diode but also exhibits an avalanche effect which improves its switching action in relation to a simple diode. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) show shunt modulators with a pair or a bridge of transistors connected across the modulation terminals S1 and coupled to carrier terminals C1; the base of each transistor is connected to its collector. Fig. 5 (not shown) illustrates a series modulator and Fig. 6 (not shown) a ring modulator.
