Abstract

104,401. British Insulated & Helsby Cables, Ltd., and Bayles, E. A. March 17, 1916. Cables and compound conductors; cores.-In flexible cables, the conductors are wound spirally on a rubber or like core, the core and conductors are then covered with a sheathing of vulcanizing-rubber, and the core and sheathing afterwards vulcanized together. The conductors may be insulated or bare, and the core solid or hollow or formed of specially soft rubber. Fig. 2 shows a two-conductor cable with a solid core A. The conductors B, B' may be initially covered with strip rubber in a suitable machine so as to leave a connecting fin or web which serves to space and maintain an even pitch of the conductors when wound on the core.
