Abstract

1,042,688. Feeding sheets. SINGER CO. May 4, 1965 [May 7, 1964], No. 18692/65. Heading B6B. Fabric sheets W, or panels, are fed along a transport table &c. 12 by compressed air from inclined nozzles 29, 30. The table 12 is of sheet metal, has a raised edge 13 to guide the sheets W, and is supported on a base 11. An air nozzle 20 comprising cylindrical upper and lower portions 21, 22, respectively, fits in a counterbore in the base 11, and is formed with a screwthreaded axial bore 28 which meets an inclined bore 29 drilled into the upper surface 24. The bore 29 forms an elliptical orifice 30 at the upper surface 24, and may be inclined at 20 degrees to the surface 24. Compressed air is supplied through a hose 41 to a connector 40, which is screw-threaded at 43 and can clamp the nozzle 20 in any position in the base 11 by means of a nut 44 and washer 45. When compressed air is supplied to the nozzle, the sheet W is bulged upwardly in the direction of the orifice 30, and the sheet is fed along the table. Several nozzles 20 are arranged in seriatim along the table 12.
