Abstract

Hydroperoxides of saturated cyclic terpenes are prepared by oxidizing mixtures of saturated terpenes which contain pinane as well as other saturated cyclic terpenes at 80 DEG to 140 DEG C. with oxygen-containing gases to obtain solutions of these hydroperoxides of at least 50% by weight strength. It is advantageous to effect the oxidation with pure or substantially pure oxygen and to use hydrogenated terpene hydrocarbon mixtures which contain at least 25% by weight of pinane.
