Shades; reflectors.-In an indirect or semi-indirect lighting-fitting in which an opaque, translucent, or semi-translucent bowl is suspended by chains c beneath a source of light, a diffusing-shade f or cylinder is arranged so as not to interfere with upwardly reflected light rays, but so that light rays pass through it before striking the chains or the edge of the bowl, thereby diminishing shadows and softening the line of cut-off. In one form, the bowl a has a detachable inner reflector b, and the diffusing-shade f surrounds the upper part of the lamp bulb, the shade being of frosted, opalescent, or prismatic glass, or preferably of clear glass with frosted strips interposed between the filament and the chains and the edge of the bowl. The shade or cylinder may be supported from the bowl, the supporting-chains, or the lamp bulb or holder.
