Abstract

1,040,107. Refrigerating. SULZER BROTHERS Ltd. April 10, 1964 [April 11, 1963], No. 14982/64. Heading F4H. In the refrigeration system described in Specification 1,019,703, the constant volume vessel is connected to the compressor discharge and suction lines via valves of variable flow cross-sections. Thus, the refrigeration capacity is varied by regulating the quantity of refrigerant by-passing the load via the vessel. In one embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), the intercooler between the compressor stages also functions as the constant volume vessel and the valves are preferably adjusted in such a manner that the compressor intake pressure remains constant. The valve connecting the vessel to the compressor discharge is controlled in dependence on the temperature upstream of the load.
