A wood shearing machine has a device for removing condensate drops from the lower walls of a reciprocating pressure bar 1 and cutter blade unit 4 comprising a brush 7 secured to a front plate 6 of the machine in such position that the pressure bar and cutter blade unit, when adjacent the forward dead centre position, rubs against the brush. The condensate drops are produced as a result of shearing hot wood 5 which abuts the face 6 of the machine and is carried by a vertically movable table for shearing by a knife carried by an angled member 4 of the cutter bar 3. The brush removes the drops to prevent their staining the wood.
