Abstract

546,674. Shearing. WINDOVERS, Ltd., and WINDOVER, R. E. T. Jan. 24, 1941, No. 986. [Class 83 (iv)] Power-operated hand-held shearing machines are provided with adjustable cutting gauge attachment to enable strips to be cut or edges trimmed after channeling or flanging. The attachment comprises a hollow member 1 clamped to the frame C of the machine by screws 2 without requiring the drilling of holes or other alteration. An arm extending from the member 1 has a dovetail connection with a bar 5 adjustably clamped by screws 4 and having oppositely extending arms 5a, 5b. The arm 5a and the adjacent half of the bar 5 are half the thickness of the other half and the arm 5b. The range of width may be varied by moving the bar 5 on its slide. Lugs 7 may be provided to assist in grinding the material to be cut and the lugs are perforated and slits 6 provided to reduce height.
