A cutting tool assembly for use in a woodwool forming apparatus comprises a plurality of shredding cutter blades 5, Fig. 2, in spaced parallel relationship in a two-part holder 1, 2. The shredding cutters 19, Fig. 14, may be arranged obliquely in relation to a paring cutter 16 and ahead of the latter so that simultaneously with the shredding of a wood film from a piece of wood by the paring cutter, the film is divided into thin strips, the shredding cutters being mounted in the two-part holder at distances which determine the width of the wood wool, and the holder being arranged so that the cutting edges 18, 20, of the paring cutter and shredding cutters lie in one plane. The cutters 5, Fig. 2, with intervening spacers 6 may be mounted on a rod 8 between two bars 1, 2, constituting the holder, the assembly being received in a recess in the cutter holder. The cutters may be rectangular with cutting edges on all four sides or have oblique ends formed with cutting edges at one or both ends whereby when one cutting edge is worn, the cutter can be turned end-for-end so that the other edge is used. In another embodiment, the cutters 5, Fig. 7, are received in recesses in bars 13. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 14, the paring cutter 16 moves in the direction of arrow 14 to cut a wood film 17 from the piece of wood 15 and the cutting edges 20 of the shredding cutters 19 lie along the cutting edge 18 of the paring cutter 16. The shredding cutters 19 are mounted loose in grooves in a receiving bar 21 carried by the cutter holder 21 which is adjustable by screws 25, 26. An elastic insert 24 of rubber, plastics material springs or the like acts on the cutters 19 to press them against the wood.
