Abstract

1,038,767. Load-handling platforms. TRIANCO Ltd. May 13, 1963 [May 15, 1962], No. 18640/62. Heading B8H. A platform for loading freight, e.g. into aircraft, has buttons 16 secured to its vertical edges for receiving loops of a load-retaining net and a peripheral rib 12 which serves as a support for net-loop-retaining resilient members 21. The rib also serves as a rubbing strip when the platform is slid between the customary guides in an aircraft and for this purpose may be fitted with a synthetic plastic antifriction inset 14. The platform consists of a cellular arrangement of struts (not shown) with horizontal plane sheets, secured to the struts, forming the top and bottom surfaces of the platform. The whole is enclosed in a surrounding frame of inwardly facing channel members 3 with which the rib 12 is integral. The upper flanges 6 of these channels may be apertured at intervals to receive lashing eyes or shackles and the channel webs may also have sockets for retaining spigots fitted in an aircraft. Four of the sockets may be used to receive the lifting pins of a sling and spreader beam, though to prevent a socket required to be used only to receive a retaining spigot from being used as a lifting point, such socket may be blocked off by a screw 37, Fig. 5 (not shown) in the flange 6 which renders it effectively deep enough only for the spigots and not for the lifting pins.
