Abstract

1,038,667. Moulding synthetic plastic linings. SIEMENS-ELECTROGATE A.G. Aug. 16, 1963 [Aug. 17, 1962], No. 32588/63. Heading B5A. In a process for producing a synthetic plastic lining, e.g. for a refrigerator, a soft prefabricated plastic foil in the form of a bag elastically expansible at normal room temperatures is clamped to a supporting container and a vacuum applied to the container to stretch the bag. A mould core shaped to correspond to the internal shape of the lining is placed into the stretched bag, and the vacuum removed so that the bag fits tightly on to the mould core. The mould core 106 with the bag 104 stretched thereover are placed in an outer mould 110, containing a sheet steel outer casing 109 and possibly also a reinforcing cage and other fixing or structural elements, and polyurethane foam introduced through a union 111; air and excess foam escaping through a pipe 112. The completed lining is removed from the moulds by injecting compressed air through pipes 107 and 113. A release agent may be applied to the moulds. The bag may be of polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene or polyterephthalic acid ester and may be made with several layers and be coated or sprayed with bonding or colouring agents.
