Abstract

1,037,968. Hoppers for tobacco. IMPERIAL TOBACCO CO. (OF GREAT BRITAIN & IRELAND) Ltd. June 17, 1965 [June 18, 1964], No. 25269/64. Heading B8S. A hopper containing tobacco is lodged in a frame 50 in the position shown, the hopper being held therein by spring latch 23, and the frame and hopper being carried by arms A and B, which arms are pivotally secured to the frame 50 at 51 and 55 and to fixed points at 52 and 56. Operation of fluid cylinder 53 rotates arm A anticlockwise so that the hopper and frame tip over leftwards to cause the hopper to discharge its material on to a conveyer (not shown). The movement of frame and hopper. is guided by the pivot pins 51 and 55 which move in appropriate slots formed in fixed side members 57. The two slots meet at point C and the passage of the pivot pins past point C is assisted by a pivoted cam 60 formed with slots 59 and 58. When the frame and hopper thereupon return clockwise to the position shown, element 21 carried by frame 50 contacts a fixed member so that latch 23 releases the hopper for its replacement by another hopper.
