Abstract

1,043,385. Powder distributers. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. Aug. 26, 1963 [Sept. 5, 1962; Nov. 15, 1962], No. 33780/63. Heading A1D. A machine for spreading granular or powdered material comprises a hopper provided with outlet ports 4, 5, 6 through which material can reach a spreading member and a masking member 7 arranged to enable the outlet ports to be closed or opened to a desired extent, the masking member being connected to a control arm 26 of a control mechanism which is acted upon by springs 35, 39 so as to retain the arm and thus the masking member in a fixed position, the displacement of the control arm causing a displacement of the masking member. As shown the arm 26 is pivotally mounted on an arm 10 and may be moved between stops 30, 31. The arm 10 determines the position of the masking member 7 and a scale 42 and adjustable stop 45 are provided. To enable the masking member to close the ports the arm 26 may be moved by means of a cable 61 so that a slot 66 of a member 63 is engaged by a pin 47. To release the arm the cable is pulled so that the pin 47 slips out of the slot 66 and the springs return the arms 10, 26 to the original position set by the stop 45.
