Abstract

1,037,840. Spring clips. SECOMASTIC Ltd. May 18, 1965 [Sept. 25, 1964], No. 39229/64. Headings E1V and E2B. A spring clip for holding a cover strip 18 in position over a joint 15 between two panels 16 comprises two generally U-shaped springs 1, 3 fixed together back to back with the arms of the U's extending away from each other, the arms 6 of the spring 1 extending outwards away from each other from the base of the U and then inwards again so that they form an undercut space 8 between them for receiving a bulbous leg 19 of a T-shaped cover strip 18, the arms 11 of the spring 3 extending away from each other and being arranged to be squeezed together and pushed into the joint so that on springing apart again the arms grip the edges of the panels 16, the clip also including a generally U-shaped supporting piece 2 having its arms extending outside the arms 6 of the spring 1, the supporting piece being substantially more rigid than the spring 1 and having, at the ends of its arms, outwardly projecting wings 10, which, when the clip is inserted in the joint 15 come into engagement with the front faces 17 of the panels 16 and prevent further movement of the clip into the joint when the leg 19 of the cover strip is presented to the clip. In the embodiment shown the springs 1, 3, the piece 2, and a stiffening strip 4 are fixed together by a rivet 5. In a second embodiment the piece 2 is composed of two portions with their bases integral with the base of the spring 3 and no stiffening strip is present.
