Abstract

1,037,339. Cooling exhaust gases. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU VERLADE-UND TRANSPORTANLAGEN LEIPZIG. V.E.B. Aug. 27, 1964, No. 35179/64. Heading F1B. Exhaust gases are cooled by passing through tubes 7 Fig. 2 (not shown) surrounded by cooling liquid in a tank 1 which is connected to a radiator 2 through which cooling air is drawn by a blower 5 serving to cool the engine. The tank 1 contains several sets of tubes 7 (Fig. 2 not shown) with interconnected top and bottom chambers 9, 8, the bottom chambers 8 containing soot traps 19. The outlet 12 of the exhaust tube system is provided with a cyclone separator 18 and is surrounded by a dome 16 forming a liquid expansion space and provided with a filler tube 15.
