Abstract

1,043,890. Purifying exhaust gases. PETER SPENCE & SONS Ltd. Dec. 9, 1963 [Dec. 8, 1962], No. 48441/63. Heading F1B. A catalytic exhaust gas purifier comprises an elongated inner casing 12 containing the catalyst and surrounded by an outer casing 11 so as to form inlet and outlet chambers 15, 15a, separated by baffles 13, 14, whereby the exhaust gas entering chamber 15 mixed with secondary air flows through the catalyst to the outlet chamber 15a. The exhaust gas is admitted to chamber 15 through inlets 16-19 spaced along its length, the secondary air being admitted through nozzles 113-116. The catalyst is supported by perforated screens 120-122 and the wall of chamber 15 is insulated by a covering 127.
