Horizontal rails 38 of a pallet rack structure are connected to uprights 20 by inserting tongues 50, which are pressed out from an attachment flange 46 of a connector 44 secured to the rail 38, into slots 34 formed in attachment plate 22 of the upright 20, and pressing the rail downwardly. The slots 34 are formed by pressing strips 30 rearwardly so that they remain connected to the attachment plate 22 at their upper and lower ends while leaving edges 36 and slots 34 inclined downwardly away from abutment plates 24. The tongues 50 are formed so that their roots 52 and free edges 54 are parallel to the edges 36 so that the rails 38 are wedged in position.
