Abstract

<PICT:1033889/C6-C7/1> Molten metal may be degassed in ladle 1 from which it flows to moulds 12 in enclosure 2 below the ladle 1 through a channel 11. A valve 14 closes the channel 11 which is sealed by sand during degassing. On opening the valve 14, the remaining sintered sand layer is broken by the melt flowing out under the controls of the pressure difference between the container 1 and enclosure 2, the pressure in the container being lower.
