Abstract

103,226. Pickard, J. H. April 13, 1916. Hand-grip wrenches.-In adjustable wrenches of the pivoted cross-handled type in which the pivot pin is spring-controlled and adjustable into a series of pivot-holes, the pivot pin g is connected by a plate h with another pin i having a head j and surrounded by a coil spring k, whereby the pivot g may be adjusted to any of the holes f in one member c, the second pin i engaging the other member a. The pivot-holes f are arranged in a channelled groove in the member c to permit easy adjustment of the pivot g. The serrated ends b, c of the members a, c are longer than usual, and the end e is formed as an acute angle. The distance-piece m, Fig. 6, between the jaws b is made longer in this modification than in that shown in Fig. 1, so as to include the mounting of the pin i in a dished washer n secured therein. In another mounting for the pivot pins, one of the jaws b is partly cut away, and the other jaw b is flanged to form a bearing for the pin i.
