STATES PATENT @FFTQEO PIPE WRENCH.
Lezama.
Application led August 24, 1921.
To all who/m, t may con-cern Be it known that I, IENZEL DvoRAK, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Fernie, in the county of Kootenay and Province of British Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe Wrenches, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in pipe Wrench construction and the principal objectof the invention is to provide a wrench of the character described which will be economical to manufacture and efficient in operation.
With this and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, Iillustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved pipe wrench.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the jaw supported member.
Figure 3 is av perspective view of the spring; and
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the spring engagement member.
Referring to the drawings, like numerals designate like parts in the various drawings.
The numeral 5 indicates the handle of the Wrench which has notched configurations 6 on the outer lower edge thereof. The member illustrated in Figure 2 and indicated by the numeral 7, is slidably positioned on the handle member 5 and is engaged therewith by the set screw 8 which enters one of Ttlie 1e jaw 9 is pivotally mounted at 10 in the bracket member 7. The spring indicated by the numeral 11 is secured at one end to the handle member 5 by the engagement member 12 which is substantially mounted to the handle member 5 by a suitable rivet. A suitable coil 13 is congurated intermediate the ends of the spring 11 for engagement with the pin 14 which is substantially positioned in the member 7. The opposite terminal of the coil spring, as indicated by the numeral 15, bears against the jaw 9 as indicated diagrammatically in Figure 1.
When in use, the pipe is positioned in- Specication of Letters Patent.

termediate the notched configurations 6 of the handle member 5 and the notched configurations 16 of the jaw member 9. lVhen alateral movement is exerted on the handle member 5, the jaw member 9 tensions inwardly in the direction of the indicating ars row against the pipe to be gripped and the same may now be held without difficulty.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be apparent, I desire to have it understood that the same is merely illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention, to which I do not limit myself and that such modifications may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Vhat I claim as new is:
1. A pipe wrench having a handle member, there being notched configurations on the inner end of the said handle member. a bracket member slidably engaged with the said handle member', a V-shaped jaw member having notched configurations on the inner edges thereof, one terminal of the said V-shaped jaw member pivotally connected to the said bracket member, a spring affixed intermediate its ends to the said bracket member, one terminal of the said spring substantially secured to the said handle member, the opposite terminal of the said spring bearing against the said body member and means securing the said slidable bracket member in any desired position.
2. A pipe wrench comprising a handle member with teeth, a bracket member slidably mounted on said handle member with means for holding it in adjusted position` a toothed jaw pivotally mounted on said bracket member. a keeper member on the handle member, and a spring having one end engaged by the keeper member and the other end slidably engaged with said jaw, the said spring having fixed connection intermediate its ends with the bracket member between said keeper member and the )ivot of the jaw.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
IVENZEL DVORAK.
litnesses Annx. H. lVA'rsoN, R. J. S'rnNsoN.
