Abstract

[Also in Division D1] A clothes washing machine is mounted in an enclosed washstand beneath a basin 1. Preferably, the waste outlet of the basin 40 is optionally connected either with the inlet to washing vessel 15 or to a waste trap. The washing machine has a perforated rotary drum 16 with baffles 35. An electric motor and belt drive 37, 38 turns the drum in one direction or alternatively in either direction. The water in vessel 15 may be heated by a thermostatically controlled heater 50. Door 29 is hinged about a vertical axis and has a remotelyoperated latch. An electrically-heated drying cabinet is arranged at one side of the washing machine (Fig. 1, not shown).
