Abstract
In a combination of a wharve and a flyer of the "tubular" type, to prevent dirt accumulating in the top of the flyer and soiling the yarn, a path is provided for the yarn through the wharve to the outside of the flyer, the path being enclosed to a point which is sufficiently close to the outside of the flyer that dirt on the yarn is thrown clear by centrifugal action. The tube may lie wholly in the head of the flyer, joining up with the base of the wharve, Fig. 3 (not shown), or it may be partly in the wharve and partly through or on top of the head of the flyer and extend nearly to, or to, the outside of the flyer. The flyer is of the kind having windows for access to a broken end, the resulting legs of the flyer being joined or not by a ring at the base, which one leg may be of reduced length or even omitted altogether.
