Abstract

An acid aqueous plating solution containing Pr, Pd, Rh or Ru, HCl and copper and/or ferrous chlorides. Pr, Pd and Rh may be added as chlorides, Pd added as Na tetrachloropalladate and Ru as Nh4 nitroso ruthenium chloride or Ru sulphamate. Ni and Ni alloys containing Fe, Cr, Co, Ti, Al are plated, the coating may contain Cu. Brass, Be, Cu and Ag alloys may be coated as described in Specification 967,681. Before plating the substrate is cleaned by dipping in acetone, hot detergent, water, conc. HCl and water. After plating it is immersed in boiling water and after drying in a flux and in molten tin.
