Abstract

1,029,889. Hand stamps; inking apparatus. E. P. N. GERARD. March 12, 1963 [March 12, 1962], No. 9646/63. Headings B6C and B6D. A hand stamp has resilient member 2 carrying characters inked by a cylindrical ink pad 4 upon depression of a handle 11. The handle 11 is connected to a stirrup 10 supporting an axle 1 carrying the members 2, the axle 1 being rotated upon depression of handle 11 through levers 5 engaging pegs 8 secured to the frame 9 of the stamp. The pad 4 is freely rotatable on a shaft 15, the pad being prevented, by cams 16, from inking characters not to be printed by being held clear of such characters. Characters which have been used for printing are re-inked at the upper end of the stroke of stirrup 10. The pad 4 may be re-inked by a felt pad glued on a sleeve.
