Abstract

1,028,691. Variable focal length systems. SOC D'OPITIQUE ET DE MECANIQUE DE HAUTE PRECISION. Jan. 2,1963 [Feb.13, 1962], No. 225/63. Heading G2J. The system comprises two optical members L 2 , L 5 , movable in opposite directions through predetermined distances, the displacements being linearly proportional to the ratio of the predetermined distances and so proportioned that the image passes three times through a stationary plane. The system is computed on the basis of one system, Fig. 2, not shown, comprising member L 2 between two lenses of power +1 being placed in front of a second system, Fig. 3, not shown, comprising member L 5 between two lenses of power -1, so that the two adjacent lenses at plane P are of powers +1 and -1 so that they may be eliminated. It is shown that systems may be developed with L 5 positive and L 2 either negative as in Fig. 5 or positive as in Fig. 10, not shown.
