Abstract

1,028,571. Concrete &c. pipes. REDLAND PIPES Ltd. May 17, 1963 [May 18, 1962], No. 19256/62. Heading F2P. A pipe, e.g. of concrete &c., comprises a cylindrical barrel 1 made by moulding or casting and a socket 2 at one end of the barrel and made from a synthetic plastic material, the socket being bonded to the barrel either after or during manufacture of the barrel and the thickness thereof being small in comparison with the thickness of the barrel. The socket is made of a polyester, epoxide resin or polyvinyl chloride reinforced by glass rovings or glass cloth and includes a tapered collar 2b, Fig. 1, received in a correspondingly tapered recess in the barrel; alternatively, the socket includes a sleeve embedded in the wall of the barrel or located in a recess in the inner surface of the barrel, or the collar is forked, the inwardly directed branch being embedded in the barrel.
