[Also in Groups F2 and G4] In a dispensing nozzle having a valve and control means therefor e.g. for use with a coin freed petrol pump &c. (see division G4) sidewardly projecting trip elements are displaced by insertion of the nozzle into an orifice to permit opening of the valve. Bleed ports 13 of pneumatic control means are obturated by four pivotally mounted trip elements 10, covered by a rubber boot 39, upon insertion of nozzle section 6 into a petrol filler pipe, permitting a pressure build up from compressed air supply pipe 18 within cylinder 17 to move piston 15 against a spring 9 to open valve 7. The petrol pump motor switch is simultaneously operated by the pressure within pipe 18 acting, via a piston and link (Fig 3, not shown), and delivery to the nozzle of a volume of petrol, predetermined by the coin freed mechanism, is obtained upon depression of handle 4 to open valve 19. A safety device to prevent spillage comprises valve member 29, connected to vacuum operated diaphragm 30, to permit bleed-off from pipe 18 via passage 38. In normal use the build up of a vacuum within chamber 32 is prevented by air drawn through and into passage 33 from port 36, via pipe 35 and passages 34, by petrol flowing through the nozzle. As the port 36 is sealed by a rising level of petrol and resultant vacuum within chamber 32 unseats valve member 29, so that valve 7 is closed and the pump motor is switched off. The trip elements 10 may also operate trip switches of an electrical fluid valve control circuit.
