Abstract

1,027,238. Bridges. DEMAG A.G. Aug. 9, 1963, No. 31634/63. Heading E1G. The reinforced concrete deck 1, together with its longitudinal bearing members 2, of a steel bridge, particularly a suspension bridge, are mounted on the cross beams 3 through rollers or bearings to have permanent freedom of movement relative to the cross beams 3, the deck 1 being resiliently anchored to the main beams 4 by cables or non-rigid rods 6. The longitudinal members 2 may be welded to the cross beams 3 at the longitudinal centre of the bridge and the cables 6 attached between the main beams 4 and the longitudinal members 2 at the bridge ends.
