Abstract

1,027,073. Drop delivering apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 5, 1963 [June 8, 1962], No. 22343/63. Heading B8N. [Also in Division H1] Active impurity is incorporated in a semiconductor body by prefusing a pellet of material on the body then depositing a predetermined amount of a suspension of the active impurity on the pellet by means of a capillary tube, and heating. Fig. 1a shows a drop 5 of a suspension containing aluminium about to be placed on a Ge-Pb-Sb alloy pellet 3 on a germanium wafer 4. The capillary tube contains a needle 2 which has a bent upper portion to maintain its position. A plurality of tubes and wafers may be supported in one jig or supporting apparatus. The aluminium may be suspended in a liquid containing alkyl resin. Ohmic or rectifying junction contacts may be provided.
