Abstract
1,026,855. Valves. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd., and J. R. WILES. March 24, 1965 [June 26, 1964], No. 26497/64. Heading F2V. A multi-way disc valve has a body 1 with inlet and outlet ports 3, 6 and a number of axially displaced and circumferentially disposed pairs of ports 4, 5. The body 1 is surmounted by a spring-loaded rotary-disc closure member 2 with a ported P.T.F.E. gasket interposed therebetween. A gas sample is drawn into the inlet 3 from whence it flows by passages 7, 13 and an annulus 11 to a port 5 leading to analytical apparatus from which it is returned into the corresponding port 4 and flows via passages 8, 10 and an annulus 12 to the outlet port 6 from which it is drawn by suction pump. After a given time an arm actuated by a timing mechanism engages one of a number of pins 15 on the disc 2 to rotate the latter to connect the passages 13, 14 to the next pair of passages 8, 9 and the associated ports 4, 5.
