Abstract

The invention comprises a compound of the general formula <FORM:1026503/C2/1> wherein R is hydrogen or the acyl radical of a hydrocarbon carboxylic acid containing from 1-12 carbon atoms inclusive, Y is hydrogen, methyl or fluorine and the 1,2-carbon atom linkage represents a single- or double-bonded linkage and a process for the preparation thereof which comprises treating compounds having the formula <FORM:1026503/C2/2> <FORM:1026503/C2/3> with hydrogen chloride and then with acetic anhydride. If desired the D 4-compound so obtained may be converted into the corresponding D 1,4-compound by 1,2-dehydrogenation with selenium dioxide.
