Abstract

1,024,878. Bearings. SOC. GENERALE ISOTHERMOS. Dec. 3, 1963 [Jan. 2, 1963], No. 47778/63. Heading F2A. A detachable shell-lining of a railway carwheel journal box consists of a steel-sheet shell 3 having a curvature consistent with the diameters of the journals and the bore of the bearing case 1, on which it is secured by means of resilient flat-headed rivets or split-pins 4, having their heads 5 slightly recessed with respect to the operating face 7 of the shell and locked in position by bending the edge of the countersunk rivet or pin hole as at 6. The bearing face 7 of the shell is lined with bearing metal &c. The shell is curved over part of the circumference of the bore and is secured by two of said pins inclined at an angle which together with the securing of the pin head prevents the shell escaping.
