Abstract

1,024,623. Ignition systems. PAL-MAGNETON NARODNI PODNIK. Oct. 1, 1962 No. 37165/62. Heading F1B. An ignition system for internal-combustion engines comprises means for generating a control current pulse coupled to an astable unsymmetrical multivibrator circuit providing a wave form in which the pulse length and the interval between pulses are different, the multivibrator driving either directly or by way of intermediate stages a final output stage in the output circuit of which stage is connected the primary winding of a transformer so that during the ignition impulse multiple interruptions of the current passing through the primary winding occur due to the multiple closing of the output stage whereby there is generated in a secondary winding of the transformer an ignition impulse consisting of a plurality of spark impulses. As shown the system is controlled by a contact breaker 23<SP>1</SP>. In a modification the system is controlled by a contactless impulse producer systems employing a further transistor between the transistors 11<SP>1</SP> and 19<SP>1</SP> are described. In another modification the control current pulses from the contactless impulse producer are fed to a phase changing circuit, the phase of the output being changeable in dependence on engine speed, engine load or other conditions The Specification also refers to use of a centrifugal and/or vacuum advance and retard mechanism. Control according to the quality of the fuel used or the engine temperature is referred to.
