Abstract
1,024,576. Distillation apparatus. DESALINATION PLANTS (DEVELOPERS OF ZARCHIN PROCESS) Ltd. Jan. 1, 1962 [April 14, 1961], No. 33225/65. Divided out of 1,024,571. Heading BIB. In distillation apparatus, suitable for separating potable water from sea water, comprising an evaporation chamber 20 surrounded by an annular condensation chamber 50, and a rotary compressor 54 for moving vapour from the evaporation chamber to the condensation chamber, the two chambers are coaxial with the shaft of the compressor. The compressor comprises an impeller 142 having a plurality of radially-extending blades 144 attached to a central hub 146 which is rotated at about 3,600 r.p.m. by motor 70. The vapour is drawn into the compressor through a central opening 56 in the lower shroud 138, and is discharged into the top of the condensation chamber 50 through a circular outlet 58 between the upper and lower shrouds 136, 138.
