Abstract

1,023,952. Insulating conductor joints. N.V. FABRIEK VAN ELECTRISCHE APPARATAN. Dec. 11, 1962 [Dec. 20, 1961], No. 46715/62. Heading H2E. An electrically conducting jointing member 4 between electric conductors 3 is surrounded by insulating members 2 and 5 having a gap of uniform cross-section between them which is filled under pressure by a flexible insulating filler 6 in the form of a sleeve or sheath having, prior to insertion, a cross-section greater than that of the gap, so that on completion of the joint all air between the insulating parts and the filler is expelled. The filler is subjected to longitudinal pressure within the gap by means of a compression spring 8 acting on a ring 7, the other end of the filler abutting the conductor 4. Before assembly of the joint the filler 6 may be greased with silicone grease to ensure complete expulsion of the air. The joint may be used in a three-phase high-voltage assembly, Fig. 2 (not shown).
