Abstract
1,023,864. Ozonizers. DEGREMONT. March 11, 1963 [March 28, 1962], No. 9549/63. Heading H5H. An ozonizer includes a plurality of ozonization chambers each formed by an inner hollow electrode surrounded by but spaced from a dielectric which is partly immersed in a liquid medium which constitutes an outer electrode, the inner electrode being detachably suspended by its upper end from a conductive tube which forms part of the gas circulation system and also acts as a lead for the inner electrode. Aluminium or stainless steel tube inner electrodes 6 are suspended within glass tubes 5 in a plastic container 1 by the receipt of their pointed and apertured hook-shaped upper ends in orifices 9 in a tube 10, on H.T. transformer being connected between tube 10 and on earth lead 16 for the cooling water 2, whichconstitutes the outer electrode. Dried air passes from conduit 19 via the tubes 5 to conduit 13, or vice-versa, the rate of ozone production due to discharge in the annular space 17 being adjustable by control of the water level by overflow device 15. The water, which may be acidified, may be covered by a layer 18 of insulating oil, and the apparatus may be operated either under pressure or under partial vacuum. Electrodes 6 may alternatively be screwed into tube 10 at their upper ends.
