Abstract

[Also in Division H1] A capacitor unit wound of interleaved dielectric and electrode sheet material is secured by a turn of adhesive tape or heat softened material, or by insertion in a preformed rigid tube, and placed in an injection mould having a central cavity 2 closely fitting the body with ends protruding into larger cavities 4, from which small diameter openings 7, 8 conduct the lead wires 10, 11; the capacitor being located by the radial wire and a kink 12 in the axial wire. Both wires may extend axially with locating kinks and both may emerge from the same end. A moulding material, e.g. polypropylene is injected through part 5 to form end caps embracing the capacitor body, and a second moulding operation may be applied to enclose the central body portion. Transfer moulding with a thermosetting phenolic resin may be employed.
