Abstract

1,020,659. Refrigerant compressors. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Nov. 16, 1964 [Dec. 16, 1963], No. 46590/64. Heading F1N. In a refrigerant compressor unit, Fig. 4 (not shown), having a hermetically sealed shell 10 in which the compressor and its associated intake and exhaust mufflers are mounted, the shell 10 has brazed thereto a tubular sealing means 31 having an enlarged diameter portion 32 providing a clearance 28 for the compressor discharge tube 23 which passes therethrough and which is ovenbrazed to a connector tube 24 itself oven-brazed to the sealing means 31. The clearance 28 permits limited lateral movement of the discharge tube relative to the shell 10 so that breakage of the seal is almost eliminated. In a second construction (Fig. 3 not shown) 1, the sealing means forms an integral continuation of the connector tube 24.
