Abstract

1526776 Refrigerant compressors LENNOX INDUSTRIES Inc 23 Oct 1975 [27 Jan 1975] 43659/75 Heading F1N A refrigerant compressor has a discharge tube 44 at least the portion which passes through the lubricant sump 41 being enclosed by an imperforate tubular member 46 which heat insulates the tube from the lubricant. The compressor comprises a compression mechanism 18 resiliently mounted within a sealed outer housing 12, 14, the discharge tube 44 passing through the housing before passing to the exterior thereof. Thus the tubular member 46 also inhibits the transfer of heat to the suction gas within the housing 12, 14. The space 50 between the tube 44 and the member 46 is evacuated to 500 microbars. To improve flexibility and inhibit the transmission of noise the tubular member 46 and possibly also the discharge tube may be corrugated along at least part or parts thereof. Braided wire reinforcement may be disposed in the space 50.
