Abstract

1,019,710. Circulators and filters. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 19, 1963], No. 30564/64. Heading H1W. A microwave channel-branching filter comprises a Y-circulator having a band-pass filter in the branch between the input and output branches. The circulator may comprise a Y- or (as shown) a T-junction and includes a ferrite disc 12 subject to the field of a permanent or electromagnet 25. The disc is preferably half the height of the guides forming the junction. Input energy from branch 14 within the passband of filter 16 is transmitted to the port 15<SP>1</SP> and energy outside this pass-band is transmitted to the port 19<SP>1</SP>. The filter comprises a number of sections each formed by two rows 17 of three posts, each section having a tuning screw 18. The Specification includes a discussion of the design requirements of the apparatus.
